Our Ministries
Our ministries are the heart of our parish life, where we gather to witness our Orthodox faith and preserve our Romanian heritage. We invite you to join us in fellowship and service as we grow together in our spiritual journey
Sunday School
Classes meet every Sunday, right after children and youth receive communion.
We have 4 age groups:
- 3–6 years old
- 7–9 years old
- 10–12 years old
- 13–18 years old
Children and youth learn about Orthodox faith and our traditions brought from Romania.
Among the activities we can mention: Divine Liturgy only for the children (first introduced in our Metropolia by our parish), Summer camp at the All-Saints Orthodox Summer Camp, volunteering at Texas Diaper Bank, distributing food for the needy, caroling, Christmas concert, volunteering during our Romanian festival (dancing traditional dances from Romania and at food booths).
The children and youth of our parish participate annually in the Religion Olympiad at both the parish and metropolitan levels.
The boys aged 9 and above take part in the Divine Liturgy as Altar Boys.
Choir
Saint John Cassian Choir is under the lead of Mrs. Mihaela Leonte Rosca since 2021. The choir gives the answers during the Divine Liturgy and special services. They perform an Annual Christmas Concert and accompany the visiting choirs in our parish.
ROYA
ROYA (Romanian Orthodox Youth of the Americas) is a youth organization under the Romanian Orthodox Metropolia of the Americas. It reunites youth across the Metropolia parishes. It is intended for unmarried youth ages 17–30 years old. ROYA creates opportunities for the Metropolia youth to create new friendships and grow in their faith.
AROLA
AROLA (Association of Romanian Orthodox Ladies' Auxiliary) is the association that reunites the Orthodox ladies in the Romanian Metropolia. Its purpose is to conduct and promote cultural, instructional activities in the Metropolia. AROLA is involved in preserving Romanian cultural heritage: religion, language, customs, traditions. Each year offers scholarships and support to young ladies and mothers in the Metropolia.
Șezătoare
"Șezătoare" would translate in English as a sewing circle. Under the guidance of Presbytera Cristina, our ladies gather at church and to the traditional sewing and knitting, they added sharing stories, singing, sharing recipes passed to them from their mothers and grandmothers. The products created are sold at the annual Romanian Food Festival and Picnic. They have created also the first Romanian dessert cookbook with recipes from grandmothers and from different regions of Romania.
